Be Your Own Bodyworker – Yoga Therapeutics Immersion with Petra L. van Aarem

4.5 hr Immersion
Open Levels

Using the marma points as a blueprint for the body, we will work our way from the ground up incorporating classical yoga, somatic movement, and therapy ball pressure to release, restore, and balance the musculoskeletal tissues and nervous system.

Comparable to acupressure points in Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Ayurveda the 117 marma points are defined as openings, vulnerable places in the body, and portals to the energetic/subtle body. They are often located at the musculoskeletal joint space - where stiffness, pain, injury, and inflammation are likely to occur.

Join Petra for this cozy afternoon of informative self-care and learn some of the many ways classical yoga with a therapeutic approach can be preventative and curative for common conditions.

In addition to a self-guided deep tissue "massage", you will leave with a toolbox of techniques you can use any time at home to restore ease to the body and mind.

Common conditions we will address:
• Plantar fasciitis, bunions, collapsed arches
• Ankle and knee sprain
• Lower back pain
• Digestive and reproductive health
• Respiratory health
• Neck and shoulder pain
• Wrist pain/carpel tunnel
• Migraine headache
• Depression and anxiety

Schedule:
Part 1 - Lower Body (feet, ankles, knees, pelvis, lower back)
15-minute nourishing snack and herbal tea break (provided)
Part 2 – Upper Body (upper spine, wrists, shoulders, neck, cranium, nervous system)

*therapy balls will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
