Teacher Spotlight: Sunie Pope

What made you try yoga for the first time?
My mother is a Yoga teacher, so I was always curious.  But my first class was at The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, when I was in high school.  I had just stopped ballet dancing and couldn't get enough movement in my life, so I was drawn to Yoga. Self-exploration as an artist is an enormous part of acting and the safety and honesty yoga provides me is exactly what I need... still.

What's your favorite yoga pose and why?
Dancers pose, natarajasana.  It is beautiful when done in full expression.

If you could study under anyone for a year, who would it be, and why?
Randal Williams -- his use of words tranforms my ability to move.

What's your favorite book and why?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo.  We learn that we are standing a midst our dreams and everything we ever wanted is already in our hands.

A brilliant performance on stage.  Watching someone tap into their emotions while raising the stakes as they vulnerably display themselves and their character on stage. An act of true humanity.

Changes all the time... The Brewster Fish House is a definite favorite.  Vers in Chatham, wow!  The Chillingsworth, love everything there.  The Ocean Edge Terrace makes the best drinks and has the best views.

Why feel guilty?  Own and love the choices you make.

To create the time to work as an actor on the Cape again.
